Susan Carr
Executive Director

Susan landed as a volunteer at a ranch offering Equine-Assisted Therapy in February 2008. After falling in love with the work, she launched her own nonprofit organization in September 2009 to continue serving individuals with disabilities through the benefits of Equine-Assisted Services.
In addition to her experience in the nonprofit sector, Susan brings 30 years of marketing and business development expertise — and a lifetime of loving horses. She built her business acumen in the corporate world, beginning her career at Ogilvy & Mather, followed by management positions at Vans Shoes, The Walt Disney Company, and DreamWorks.
She holds degrees in Psychology and Business from UCLA and is trained in EAGALA, PATH, and Eponaquest’s Tao of Equus methods of Equine-Assisted Services, as well as in natural horsemanship and dressage. She also spent over 20 years as an avid trail rider.
Susan has volunteered on behalf of animals, at-risk youth, and individuals with disabilities throughout her adult life. Today, she says the best part of her work with horses is that “it feels authentic and resonates deep within me; I see horses having that same positive effect on others as well.”
