Mare
Palomino
Lucy and Amarilla were seized from a neglectful home in Kings County in the fall of 2022. Both mares were thin, and their owner could not afford to feed them appropriately. In addition, both mares were also suffering from significant lameness problems. Lucy and Amarilla had not been groomed in so long that their tails were just one huge knot. Lucy and Amarilla were diagnosed with severe navicular disease, Amarilla suffered some trauma to her left front fetlock, permanently enlarging the joint, and Lucy also had very severe thrush in her left front hoof. Lucy was treated for thrush and given an Osphos injection to help with her navicular disease. The owner did not understand that the horses should not be ridden in their condition and planned to send them off for training under saddle. In December of 2022, Lucy and Amarilla arrived at Redwings. Once Lucy arrived at Redwings, our team got to work getting the huge knot out of Lucy's tail and multiple smaller knots out of her mane. She received a much-needed hoof trim and is now looking and feeling much better. Lucy is a sweet mare that enjoys attention. Amarilla and Lucy are now happy and healthy. Both mares are available as companions only due to their chronic navicular disease.
