Amarilla was seized by Kings County from a terrible case of neglect. Amarilla's owner had fallen on hard times and was no longer able to afford to care for Amarilla. Amarilla was thin, in need of hoof care and had a large swollen fetlock joint on her left front leg. In addition, Amarilla's tail was so tangled that was just one huge knot. Kings County arranged for a vet to Xray her swollen leg and get her up to date on her vaccines. It was determined that Amarilla had previously suffered an injury to her left fetlock that had not received veterinary attention and the enlargement of the joint was permanent. Once she arrived at Redwings our staff got to work getting the huge knot out of Amarilla's tail and mane. Amarilla is looking and feeling great and hopefully the old injury will not cause Amarilla any discomfort and she will be able to be trained under saddle in the coming months.
