Fall of 2022
In the fall of 2022, Santa Clara Animal Services got a call about a herd of horses that were being neglected. When they arrived, they found that all the horses were thin and badly needed hoof and dental care. The owner did not comply with the instructions given by the Humane Officers, so a short time later, the six horses were seized. Two of the horses that were younger and in better condition were adopted from Animal Services. Ethan and Flynn were in the worst condition of the remaining four horses, with a body score of 1. Freyja and Nonnie were thin but in much better condition than Ethan and Flynn. The horses had to be held at Animal Services for a few months due to the case against their owner. Once the DA finally released the horses, Animal Services contacted Redwings to arrange transportation to the sanctuary.
