Selenite

Mare

Flea bitten gray

Andalusian

Selenite is a beautiful Andalusian cross mare. Not much is known about Selenite’s past. Selenite was rescued from a livestock auction in December 2017 by another rescue. At the time of her rescue, Selenite was under conditioned, and the notes from the auction indicated she might have been used for Charro Rodeo events.
Only a few months after her rescue, Selenite once again needed a new home. The rescue that saved her at the auction was closing its doors, and all the horses at the rescue needed to find new homes. Even though Selenite has a gentle and quiet temperament, she was overlooked by potential adopters, and time was running out.
A volunteer at the rescue contacted Redwings to see if we could offer Selenite a place here at the sanctuary. The board quickly voted to accept her, and soon after, she made the long 8-hour trip to Redwings. Selenite, now called Stella, was adopted in January 2020 by the St. Jean Family. In August 2020, the family moved to Montanna with all three of their horses. Stella is really enjoying all the snow.
