Lady and Music came to Redwings in the summer of 2022. Two gentlemen stopped by Redwings to inquire about getting help for their grandmother's horses. Their grandmother loved the horses but was no longer able to care for them physically or financially. Due to her mobility limitations, the horses had not received appropriate care in a long time, they had long, overgrown hooves that curled up at the toe, and Music had a severe skin infection that had left scars over 2/3 of her back and rump. Both mares were thin but not emaciated. Lady's hooves were so long that she could barely walk. She fell four times, walking the short distance from her stall to our trailer.
Once at Redwings, we immediately called out the vet to take X-rays of Lady's feet and to check Music's infections. The vet also did dental work on both of the horses, removing sharp points and hooks so they could eat better. Lady and Music are now happy and healthy. They are available as companion horses.
