Jet
Gelding
Jet was seized from a neglectful home in Inyo County in November of 2022. Jet and two other horses were severely underweight, and their owner could not care for them. In addition to being thin, Jet had an eye injury that had not been treated, the tips of his ears were missing due to either injury or frostbite, and his left nostril had an old injury that healed wrong, creating a large skin flap over his nose. It was soon discovered that the owner had not had Jet very long, only a few months. She had rescued him from an auction where he would most likely be slaughter bound. But why would the owner rescue him from the auction if she could not afford to care for him and then let him starve? We have no clue. Animal Control Officers took great care of Jet while in their care, and he regained most of his weight. They could not find any adopters for Jet due to his age, chronic lameness, and other conditions. They reached out to Redwings, and a few weeks later, Jet arrived at the sanctuary. Jet is a kind and gentle soul, and he is thriving at Redwings.
