Give Your Horse the Boot!
Roz Bailey, Vice President, Redwings Horse Sanctuary Board of Directors
Upside-down bell boots
A few of our horses at Ranch Forgotten sometimes kick into their feeder bins. In doing this, the horse tends to irritate the fetlock and cannon bone. To prevent the horse from injury, we put rubber bell boots upside down around the fetlock area to cover the fetlock area and a portion of the cannon bone. This seems to help prevent injury to the horses.
So the next time you hear your horse kicking the feeding bin, go ahead and give your horse the boot!
